Cogapp wins MUSE award for
work on MoMA website

Our work on the redevelopment of The Museum of Modern Art's website has recently won a Bronze MUSE award in the Online Presence category. The MUSE awards recognise outstanding achievement in museum media and awards are presented to institutions and independent producers who use digital media to enhance the museum experience.

The Museum of Modern Art launched a completely new website in March 2009, featuring a reconstructed design offering enhanced navigation and interactivity. Cogapp programmed an extensive online collection using designs by For Office Use Only and MoMA's in-house Digital Media team. The new site integrates dynamic features that offer visitors a more personal online experience, and access to over 24,000 works from the museum collections. This can be searched using an unprecedented choice of variables, allowing visitors to learn more about MoMA's collection of modern and contemporary art. You can read more about our work for MoMA here.

The award acknowledges that the MoMA website provides a rich and meaningful online experience and innovatively complements the themes of the collections. The judges of the MUSE awards felt that the site pushed the boundaries of what we are used to seeing in a museum website with one juror stating, "the site creates the same debate as modern art itself. The ability to organise that amount of content, the opportunity to tailor it to your needs, and the seamless integration of multimedia makes the site informative, compelling and engaging."
